Welcome to the year of the Dragon.

The Dragon is a creature of myth and legend. In ancient China, the celestial Dragon represents an emperor and power. Today, it is the ultimate auspicious symbol signifying success and happiness. May the celestial Dragon bring great good luck to you all this year.

Water is the Element of winter in the Chinese Traditions.

Winter is a time work on our inner resources of the Water Element. Too often in the winter we carry on as if we have the same energy as summertime with all the natural light and warmth. We should take example from nature, she rests and builds reserves of energy ready to bust into spring. It is often difficult to slow down and do less in the winter as modern society keeps going at the same speed, with the pressures of Christmas, family and work. The ambition and drive to see one’s own future take shape carries each living thing through the darkness of winter. Beneath its dark and impenetrable surface is a vast and unyielding force that powers the flow of season into season. This is the key to the Water Element.

Water is still and deep, with great inner quality, with the strength of reserve and endurance. The ability to create and draw on reserves is absolutely essential to all life. The ability to persevere through the winter depends on the reserves, which the Water Element represents.

Water is our most precious natural resource. Without it, there would be no life on earth. The human body is about 78% water. Our reserves of water are the basis for our existence. Water is also responsible for our movement and fluidity, as well as, cleansing, change and transformation.

To work with the energy of winter,I suggest that if you possibly can just try each day just for yourself, have 10 minutes quite time, just to be. You can sit quietly, listen to a favorite piece of music (preferably something peaceful) or meditate. Giving to yourself is very important because if you are not well yourself, you can not give out to others to live in this world.

Of course Traditional Five Element Acupuncture is the ideal way to tap into your natural energy, give to yourself and help you build your reserves, to gain a peaceful winter.I look forward to seeing you, your friends and family to balance your energy of the season.

Have a peaceful Winter, full of hope for the spring.
